Disruptive Ideas: Small Changes, Big Impact

Part of the Viral Change™ Methodology

In his book of the same name, Dr Leandro Herrero defined  Disruptive Ideas  as those which ‘provide management alternatives that, if spread, can completely transform the way the organization works without the need for a massive change management programme. Each of them in its own right has the potential to create significant change, but the compound benefit of a few of them is a real engine of change and business transformation.’

These Disruptive Ideas are like controlled injections of challenge to the default positions of organizations. Amongst other things, they question ‘the ways things have always been done’.  This course is devised to give you the tools needed to challenge your team or organization to adopt many ‘impossible changes’ – with the ultimate aim of building a more engaged and healthier team.

You only need a few disruptive ideas to create big transformation.

What you will learn:

You will be exposed to Disruptive [management] Ideas, those that have the capacity to create significant impact on the organization by challenging standard management practices. They share the following characteristics:

  1. They are simple.
  2. There is a total disproportion between their simplicity and their potential to impact and transform the life of organizations.
  3. They can be implemented now and at little or no coast
  4. You can implement them at little or no cost.
  5. They are most likely to be contrarian.
  6. They are also likely to be counterintuitive.
  7. They pose a high risk of being trivialised or dismissed.
  8. They can spread virally within the organization very easily.

This programme is devised to give you the tools to challenge your management team, functional team, division etc to adopt ‘disruptive ideas’, and to use the process to build a more critical – and ultimately healthier – team.

We will share with you a process of critically thinking about the various ideas and a mechanism to challenge assumptions about their positive or negative merits.

The ultimate outcome of using the Disruptive Ideas methodology is to craft a small set of chosen ideas with the potential to create high impact, renewal and reinvention immediately, complete with a clear plan of commitment and accountability.
